Update: 18 Weeks!

Merry Christmas!  Happy New Year!  Life has been crazy as usual.  I actually can't wait to get back to school so we can resume some kind of "normal" schedule.  We didn't do Christmas cards this year because we ran out of time, money and energy.  Sorry.  Maybe next year!  I also am working on calling people still for Christmas!

Here's a baby update!

How far along are you?
18 weeks!

Total weight gain?
Umm... I think 3lbs so far, but I look bigger.  So, none of my pants fit me anymore!

Baby Information?
Baby is measuring at exactly 18 weeks.  Very active!!!  I feel little pokes every now and then from the inside, but can't feel anything when I put my hand on my belly.

Any doctor news?
Blood pressure is better, so I'm not as dizzy.  Baby's heart rate sounds good!

Best moment ?
Lucas hearing the baby's heartbeat for the first time.  He got the biggest smile on his face!

Worst moment ?
I still have the crazy mood swings.  The other bad moment was my ultrasound getting postponed.  Thankfully, we have a friend who totally hooked us up so we could still find out what we were having!

Stretch Marks?
Knock on wood, no.
I'm all about the cocoa butter!

 Gender?
Unless something magically falls down in the next 10 days, we're having a GIRL!!!!!

Sleep?
We've been going from place to place on vacation
, so I've been sleeping on pull out beds... and couches when Scott's and Lucas' snoring gets to be too much!

Food cravings or aversions?

No real cravings right now.  Just hungry.  All. The. Time.

What I miss?
Wine.  Yes, I still miss wine.  Its the Holidays... ha ha!

What I'm looking forward to?
Cleaning the house.  Getting farther along so I can plan a cute, girly room!  Scott wants a princess theme.  I vetoed that.

Update: 14 Weeks

No picture just yet... Maybe in a couple of weeks :)

How far along are you?
14 weeks!

Total weight gain?
Umm... I think 2lbs so far.  I'm able to fit into all of my non-maternity shirts (not the tank tops, though... ouch).  Pants are tough.  I've been using my beBand a lot!

Baby Information?
There is just 1... thank goodness!

Any doctor news?
Nope.  I go again on December 4th.

Best moment ?
Telling family via picture message of the 1st sonogram!

Worst moment ?
This pregnancy has not been as easy as the first.  I've been crazy nauseous all day long, and borderline narcoleptic.  I told my sister that if I didn't know what was actually going on with my body, I'd swear I had developed mono!  My mood has also been out of control.  Crazy mood swings.  Yesterday, by 5:00 I was ready to strangle someone... I can't even remember what put me in that mood in the first place!

Stretch Marks?
Knock on wood, no.
I'm not very big.  I just look like I've had a few extra cupcakes right now.

 Gender?
Won't know until (hopefully) December 28th!

Sleep?
It has been okay.  I go to bed REALLY early lately.
My hearing has been super sensitive, so silly little noises wake me!

Food cravings or aversions?

Chili's chicken enchilada soup. Milk. Aversions... hmm... the smell of certain brands of hot dogs are pretty nauseating right now.

What I miss?
Wine.

What I'm looking forward to?
Finding out what we are having, the morning all day sickness to go away, and to regain normal amounts of concioussness!

So Much to be Thankful for...

So, I started this blog to keep family and friends in the loop about the silly things that Lucas does and the crazy ways Scott and I react to them.  Clearly, that hasn't happened, since the last Lucas-related post was to say he just started crawling.  Okay, here's an update: He is RUNNING at this point.  He talks up a storm (and says some pretty funny stuff), loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  He has no fear.  He will climb up Scott's 22ft slide (with help), slide down and then say, "Mommy, I go again??"

Facebook is a fabulous way to chronicle those things on the spot!  I'm going to try to be less "annoying Mom" on Facebook and try to post more here.  We'll see how well that works.  I haven't figured out how to blog from my phone just yet.  I'm sure it isn't hard... I got the app... but I digress...

Well, here it is today, Thanksgiving.  Yes, I am thankful for this break, but I am thankful for so much more.  Here's just a short (ha!) list of my gratitude:

My baby!  Lucas is getting so big, and he is just so smart.  He makes me laugh, even when he is at his most difficult moments, which thankfully, don't happen too often!  I love when he randomly crawls into my lap, gives me a kiss and says, "I love you, Mommy!"

Scott.  He has been so busy lately with work, but he is working to keep our family in a beautiful home with food on the table.  It also helps that he is a wonderful Dad who loves being silly with Lucas (who may or may not cooperate when Scott wants to play... ha ha!)!

My mom is finally living in Florida and Lucas LOVES it!

Thankful that Lucas has such great older cousins to look up to! The top picture is of his cousins in Long Island, the bottom ones are of Lucas and Lexie :)

I can't find anymore pictures, but to add to the list of thanks:
  • my amazing family that grows bigger every time I blink (I cannot WAIT for Christmas!),
  • friends who have become family,
  • a roof over my head,
  • a job that I enjoy,
  • a day care provider who loves my child just as much as I do (sometimes more, depending on the morning I've had with him... ha ha!)...

Oh yeah, and I'm thankful for one more thing........

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Kindergarten Common Core

So, I found this workbook.  It looks like a really great resource for a Kindergarten teacher.  At my school, we are fully implementing CCSS in our classrooms in Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Our school is doing a gradual roll out of the standards, as our kiddos are still taking FCAT until 2014.  This book will be a great resource for those of us just starting out with these brand new standards!  When we have to implement something new, every little bit helps!  This book has worksheets, posters and other resources to help in teaching every standard for ELA and Math!  I'm so grateful that this resource was created!  You can find more information about purchasing this book by clicking here: Kindergarten Common Core
